About
Growing Up:
Before I became a coach or even before I started working I grew up in Oakland, California. The youngest of 4 siblings to a single mother. Things weren’t always easy but we were always taking care of. One thing that I really appreciate about my upbringing and what has helped shape my life is that I had certain Black women who were assigned to me and me assigned to them. From my grandmother Tina, my God mom Marylin Mackey, Victory Lee, Barbara Green Ajufa, HuNia Bradley, Tiffany Golden, Mama Adilah and many others. These women believed in me, they saw something in me and loved and cared enough to make time to invest in me. From learning the power of prayer, feeding my community, working for myself, standing up for myself, finding my voice, and sharing my gifts. I am forever grateful to them and the many others who are continuing to walk with me on this journey as I walk with those who I’ve been divinely assigned to.
From age 15 into my 20s I had the opportunity to learn and leap into professional careers that all at the core were about being of service to others and helping them take care of themselves. I’ve done work in youth development, public health, food justice, literacy, systems change, girls empowerment, and health education. In addition, I’ve stayed true to saying yes to my gifts and talents that were moving through me. From braiding hair to being a spoken word artist.
After high school I went to community college first as I really was lost I didn't know which way to go. I found more of myself while attending community college which led me to 2 AA degrees in social sciences and liberal arts and I transferred to San Francisco State University. I pursued and received my Bachelors of Science in Community-Based Health Education becoming the first in my family to graduate from college.
Before the big leap (before 2016):
Prior to taking that leap, I was a part of a lot of circles and spaces with other women coaches who inspired me, poured into me, and taught on my journey. I got introduced to Sacred self-care and what it means to be a sacred self-caring woman by a mentor named Debrena Jackson Gandy who is an amazing author and coach. I studied under her and with dozens of women for years and I later became a coach to continue and deepen that work with women. In addition, I did a lot of personal development work and I also had a girls empowerment program called (Y-LEAP) which is where this work I would bring back what I was learning about self-care to. I got really inspired to help women make self-care a priority in their lives and I become a coach.
In 2016, I took my first big leap into full-time entrepreneurship and although it was a very exciting time for, to be honest it was also hard. I danced between struggle/survival and watering the seeds in the garden of my calling. I started a sacred jewelry business called Goddess Crowns By Nakia where I crowned women from the inside out and reminded them of their sacredness through magnetic jewelry. After 3 years of growing my garden, deepening my faith, and refusing to give up on myself, I decided to find harmony with working a 9 to 5 and continuing to build my business. It was not an easy decision, but I listened and surrendered to the opportunities that were aligned with my journey. Let me tell you more about what brought me to coaching.
Starting Magnetic Woman Coaching:
In 2018, I leap to officially start my coaching business which is now known as Magnetic Woman Coach but before I formulated that name I knew that there was something for me to do involving supporting Black women and going deeper with them around this aspect of self-care. I knew it was something calling me but I was still terrified because I didn't think that I was a coach. I was attracting women who wanted me to coach them, they needed clarity, encouragement, and accountability on their journeys. The attraction was just becoming natural but I also wasn't fully confident in my journey. So I sat with this seed for months at a time and I was really scared to take that full leap until I couldn't ignore it any more. While I was preparing for my leap I also had some support through my coach Kysha Mitchel, Founder of Elevate Your Now. I was in her Alchemy program and have received so much support from then until now. So thankful for the coaching I received and being apart of a mastermind coaching program that held such powerful energy and helped me accelerate my process and journey. Beyond that, yet another Black woman who believed in me and held an open heart and hand out to me.
In May of 2018, it was time to allow this seed to grow and be birthed. I enrolled an intimate and powerful group of 5 magnetic women into the mastermind. We leaped through a three-month journey which later was extended into a 6-month journey. From developing a daily practice of self-care to leaping into your calling with or without fear and everything in between, it was a beautiful cultivation of sisterhood, transformation, and healing.
Also in the year of 2018 I launched my workshop series. I've always been passionate about holding space for others to elevate, heal and empower themselves. I love supporting women in finding time to pour into their cups I love supporting women and leaping into what is calling them answering the call on their life I love reminding them that they are worthy in worth it I love reminding them to set boundaries and honored themselves and really just make sure that they are protected that they are you know reclaim in the of those things I saw it has been a beautiful experience in magnetic woman coaching in this journey and for myself personally one thing that women tell me all the time on why they show up to my workshops why they show up to coming to The Mastermind programs it's not just about the content it's because they want to see a reflection of themselves they are tired of feeling isolated they want to recommit to their their Journeys and they want to do it in a safe and Sacred Space of like-minded sisters.
In 2019, I returned to a 9 to 5 in the area of girl's empowerment and systems change. I worked there for 2.5 years and recently made the decision to return to full-time entrepreneurship again. All while being lead, listening to the Divine and learning to trust my journey.
Currently, my Magnetic Woman Mastermind just launched its 3rd year moving from a 3-month journey to a 9-month journey. I'm also working privately with sistahs specifically to help them put themselves first, be bold and courageous to be their full selves, and to leap into their next chapter. I would love to serve at least 50 women per year through this journey and really help them transform their lives from the inside out.
Giving thanks to the most High for choosing me and trusting me on this journey.
